about

Lowly Spects has quickly become one of the most loved folk alternative groups in the Orange County and LA areas. Residing in Costa Mesa, CA, the three piece group has a sound that is remarkably refreshing and approachable among a largely over saturated indie band culture. Fronted by principal songwriter Ethan Hulse, the band has been a continuation of his solo project and EP “I Don’t Feel Simple,” released in 2011. Since then, Lowly Spects has released an EP called, “The Hardest Man To Love.” The EP was released with a successful west coast tour in December of 2012 and was received with high praise. They are often compared to the likes of Ryan Adams, Wilco and Travis. The band has become known for memorable shows in well known venues such as House of Blues, Constellation Room, The Casbah, and Hotel Cafe. Being nominated for several Orange County Music Awards in 2012, as well as receiving many great write-ups from KROQ radio station and OC Weekly for shows, interviews, and album reviews, it’s safe to say that Lowly Spects are on the precipice of making some waves in America’s largest music market. Lowly Spects is: Ethan Hulse, Tyler Johnson, and Trevor Kelso.

Track Name: To Be Well
One Sunday morning rain
I thought it rather strange
To hide in lies I couldn't sell
I want to be well
I want to be well

The wars outside are tired
The workers have conspired
And in their means to dispel
They want to be well
They want to be well

Disguises frame my right
All along the night
The sun rises behind my back
Everything is gone

And you, like nighttime fires
Have burned my dark desires
When there's no secrets left to tell
You're gonna be well
You're gonna be well
You're gonna be well
You're gonna be well
Track Name: My Dead Body
All that's true, gets locked inside
And will I ever find it?
Will I ever find it?
Spending your time, pushing me away
And do I ever mind it?
Do I ever mind it?

Oh my Lord, it's a shame!
Oh my Lord, who's to blame?
Now my dead body's on the water
Body's on the water

Her kind of love is a terrible array
Of what she is not finding
What she is not finding
She falls apart, but holds it all in
Oh, love is still unwinding!
Love is still unwinding!

Oh my Lord, it's a shame!
Oh my Lord, who's to blame?
Now my dead body's on the water
Body's on the water

Don't come down here no more
She said go away now
Now my dead body's on the water
Body's on the water
Track Name: The Hardest Man To Love
Half a million miles away from you
Wondering what there is for me to do
Do you love me like you used to?

A man who left his home and went to sea
That no one told it can be
Do you love me like you used to?
Do you love me like you say you do?

Oh morning,
All of your fighting words
Will be just softly heard
And I must be the hardest man to love
Cause you left me there!

A moment passed me by and sang it's song
Leaving me in quiet for so long
Can you hear me like you used to?

Things that seem to slowly waste my time
Are blooming from your heart without a vine
Can we ever be who we're supposed to be?
All this forming, still I'm groaning

Oh morning,
All of your fighting words
Will be just softly heard
And I must be the hardest man...
All of my darkest dreams
Forgotten and unseen
Still I must be the hardest man to love

And when the distance falls
You are in my arms
When the sunlight calls me home
When the framework breaks
The pane that blocked my way
The world as clear as day
My love!

Half a million miles away from you
Wondering what there is for me to do
Track Name: For & Against
Can you tell me a story that I wont forget
Brother tell me all the things that regret
I am a man who cannon hide his feelings
How could I neglect
All the things that I am for and I'm against

Can you tell you tell me the secrets of life and death
Preacher tell me all the things that I have missed
Oh the walls inside my soul are sturdy
How could they permit
All the things that you are for and are against

Can you give me dreams of pleasure and of rest
Singer sing to me the songs that you know best
Oh the blood inside my heart is beating on the outside of my chest
For the things that I am for and I'm against

And out of nowhere you are mine
But you're out of time for me
Track Name: Things No One's Asking
I can tell you everything
But some things I don't know
Promises that I can't keep
Will make uncertainty grow

Hear me when I say
That we are still ok

We're just trying to find an answer
We're just trying to find an answer
We're just trying to find an answer
To things that no one's asking

Bring me back a storage bin
For the things I'll bring along
And I will bring a pen for her
To write her sad love songs

Hear me when I say
That we are still ok

We're just trying to find an answer
We're just trying to find an answer
We're just trying to find an answer
To things that no one's asking

But I'm quietly undone
Still I'm finding that I'm not the only one
Cause no one knows
No one knows

We are trying to find an answer
We are trying to find an answer
We are trying to find an answer
To things that no one's asking
Track Name: If I Had A Home
If I I had a home
Out across the meadow
Somewhere in the warm sky
Come be with me
If I had a home
Buried in the ocean
Carried on a lost breeze
Come be with me

Cause maybe someday I'll be tired
Of wondering around all my life
Of drinking of the water till it's dry
Oh maybe I'll wish I made a home for you and I

If I had a home
I'd fill the room with people
To sing a song of freedom
Come be with me
If I had a home
Somewhere in your laughter
Or when I am beside you
Come be with me

Cause maybe someday I'll be tired
Of wondering around all my life
Of drinking of the water till it's dry
Oh maybe I'll wish I made a home for you and I

I want to be
Safe and free
I want to see
The world before

Maybe someday I'll be tired
Of wondering around all my life
Of drinking of the water till it's dry
Oh maybe, maybe...
I'll wish I made a home for you and I
